U2 Tickets: 3 of the Most Important U2 Concerts Ever

No U2 concert is bad, and when you buy U2 tickets you're guaranteed of an amazing live show – after all, you don't get to be the second-biggest band, ever, without knowing how to 'bring it' on stage. Having said that, not all U2 concerts are created equal, and there have been some stand-outs over the many years they have been playing together. What follows are three of their best:

#1 Red Rocks (1983)

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is an open-air concert venue in Colorado, west of Denver, located in Red Rocks Park. Concerts have been given in this stunning setting for over a hundred years, but the performance there by U2 in 1983 was the one that really put Red Rocks on the map. Their performance at Red Rocks was of course later released as video, entitled Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky, and this video not only captures the beauty of the location, but also the energy and passion of a band on the way to total world domination.

#2 Live Aid (1985)

The Live Aid concert was held on 13 July, 1985, and was organized by Bob Geldoff as a charity event to raise money to prevent starvation in Ethiopia. There were two simultaneous concerts, one at Wembley Stadium in London, and one at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, and the live broadcast was watched around the world.

Unfortunately for U2 fans, they had time on the day to play only two of their songs in full – 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' and 'Bad' – but despite this their performance had a massive impact and announced to the world that they had arrived as a major international act. U2 was also responsible for getting the crowd on the day on their feet and excited, in another testament to Bono's charisma as a front man.

#3 Reggio Emilllia Aeroporto (2001)

Whether or not this was one of their best, it was certainly their biggest. The show, at Reggio Emilllia Aeroporto, Italy, was played to a crowd of approximately 150,000. This made it the biggest audience ever to attend a concert for single artist or group...and pay an entry fee. If ever there needed to be confirmation that U2 are the biggest band in the world, this fact alone would do it. The record had previously been held by the Rolling Stones, for a crowd of 127,000 they played to during a 1995 concert in Prague for their Voodoo Lounge tour.

When you buy U2 tickets, you can't be sure that the concert you go to see makes it into the history or the record books like those listed above. What you can be sure of is that you'll be wowed by one of the best live bands ever. These guys have been doing it for over 25 years, and even before they had the musical ability to back up their on-stage energy, fans have been falling over themselves to buy U2 tickets. Don't miss out on yours!
